Job Summary
Lead Carpenter will oversee construction projects and supervises a team of carpenters while doing skilled carpentry work. They are expected to take responsibility for ensuring that construction projects are completed on time and meet quality standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Review construction plans and blueprints to understand project requirements
Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of carpenters and other skilled workers
Estimate the quantity and type of materials required for each project
Create and communicate project timelines and schedules
Ensure that job sites are safe and free from hazards
Train new carpenters and apprentices and supervise their work
Monitor project expenses and stay within budget guidelines
Perform skilled carpentry work, including framing, and finishing work
Qualifications and Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
5+ years of experience in carpentry and construction
Expertise in various carpentry techniques and tools
Experience leading and supervising construction teams
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints
Familiarity with building codes and safety regulations
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Working Conditions
Lead Carpenters work on construction sites, both indoors and outdoors. They are exposed to various weather conditions and must be able to work in high and precarious places. They often work long hours and weekends to meet project deadlines.
