Job description: We are seeking a skilled Commercial Construction Estimator with expertise in interior finish out and ground-up builds to join our team in Austin, Texas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating, particularly in onscreen take offs and bidding on city and municipality projects. Additionally, this role requires the ability and willingness to mentor and support other estimators within the team.Responsibilities:
- Estimating: Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including both interior finish out and ground-up builds.
- Onscreen Take Offs: Utilize onscreen take off software to quantify materials, labor, and equipment necessary for project bids.
- Bid Preparation: Manage the entire bid process, including reviewing project plans and specifications, soliciting bids from subcontractors and suppliers, and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- City and Municipality Projects: Have experience bidding on projects that require adherence to city and municipality regulations, codes, and procedures.
- Team Support: Assist, guide, and train other estimators to enhance their skills and capabilities within the estimating department.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Relations: Establish and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and timely project delivery.
- Risk Assessment: Identify and analyze project risks and opportunities, providing recommendations to mitigate risks and enhance project profitability.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure accurate understanding of project scope and requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
- 6-8 years of experience in commercial construction estimating, with a focus on interior finish out and ground-up builds.
- Proficiency in onscreen take off software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) is essential.
- Demonstrated experience in bidding on city and municipality projects, including familiarity with local regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Leadership qualities with a willingness to mentor and support junior estimators.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
