Summary/Objective
Technician is responsible for collecting and removing junk and hauling waste and recyclable materials for further disposal. This position is part of a 2-person crew.
Typical job duties involve operating a small dump truck, using various equipment while lifting, carrying, and loading junk into the truck.
Another very important part of this job is updating a smartphone app with your location and transit status, and fully completing all job forms, checklists, and making sure to upload all required photos of the job site.
You will be expected to follow the designated route for the day, communicating with the manager and remote dispatch team. Secondary duties involve limited field marketing, which you will be trained for.

We are a newly franchised business in the Austin area. We have been in operation since February 2024 and we are growing rapidly. We are locally owned and supported nationally by Accelerated Waste Solutions (AWS) at the corporate level.

Compensation
Starting hourly rate of $15 per hour.
After a 60-day probation period you are entitled to a performance review where your hourly rate may increase depending on how well you do during the first 60 days. Additional performance reviews and pay rate discussions occur twice per year.
Employees can expect to work a minimum 30 hours per week, with hours increasing as the schedule becomes busier. Hours per day will vary depending on the posted schedule. We aim to operate between 6 and 8 hours per day, but occasionally a busy schedule could result in a 10 or 11 hour shift.
You must provide the flexibility to work these hours.
60-Day Probation Period
During the first 60 days of employment, performance will be regularly evaluated based on your willingness and ability to adequately learn and perform the requirements of the job.
The ongoing 60-day performance evaluation is based on but not limited to the following:
A positive attitude.
Arriving to work promptly and on time every single day. It is highly discouraged to request any days off during this probationary period unless otherwise agreed upon with plenty of notice during the interview process. Special considerations will be given for emergencies or medical related needs, on a case-by-case basis.
Your work ethic.
Cooperation with crewmates and manager.
Consistently completing all smartphone app requirements for each job, including updating your transit and location status, and finishing job forms, checklists, and required photo uploads.
Ability to follow a flexible schedule as outlined several times in this job description.
As stated above, after a successful first 60 days you are entitled to a performance review and may receive a pay rate increase.
Policies
Time-off requests must be made with 1 full week notice to give the business enough time to cover your shift and must be approved by the manager.
Chronic lateness will result in a write up. 3 write ups will result in termination.
Failure to report to work at the designated start time with no communication (no-show) will result in immediate termination.
Upon hire you will be required to sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement).
Upon hire you will be required to sign a payroll deduction authorization form in the event you cause damage to company or customer property resulting from negligence in the workplace.
Essential Responsibilities
Removing, hauling and disposing of unwanted material from apartment communities, single family homes, businesses, etc.
Loading, lifting and consolidating debris into a dump truck, which is 4 feet off the ground.
Making regular/daily runs to the landfill, scrapyard, and recycling facilities.
Using tools and equipment to break down junk items such as mattresses, bedframes, and other large furniture into smaller debris for disposal or recycling.
Updating schedule app on truck/company smartphone with daily progress and communicating updates on your status regularly with the manager and dispatch team. This is an essential part of the job.
Requirements
At least 18 years of age or older.
Pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Pass a pre-employment background check.
Pass a pre-employment motor vehicle record check.
Standard Driver’s License.
A reliable personal vehicle in good working condition.
Excellent driving skills with no violations in the last 5 years.
Lift and load 50-100 pounds of junk as part of a 2-person crew.
Able to learn and use basic smartphone applications for tracking and updating progress on the daily schedule. This is extremely important. Do not apply for this position if you are unable or unwilling to update a basic smartphone app with your status and activities many times throughout the workday.
Comfortable with speaking to apartment community staff about our services. You will be trained and coached.

Work Environment
This job operates in the field: apartments, residential homes, commercial businesses, and on the road in the truck, as well as at local landfill and recycling centers.
You must be comfortable and able to handle unclean environments that may include residential and commercial waste, with the occasional possibility of vermin (roaches, rodents). If fleas or bedbugs are discovered, then you will not be required to complete the job and the customer will need to bring in pest control before we can resume. This also applies to hazardous materials. This is a dirty job, but your safety is of utmost importance to us.
All necessary PPE (personal protective equipment) is provided, including:
Disposable facemasks.
High quality work gloves in your size.
Disposable latex gloves.
Disposable shoe covers.
Disposable Protective suits.
You will be provided company t-shirts to wear daily. You are responsible for keeping these washed and clean to wear for each workday. Maintaining a clean and professional appearance is essential.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, lift, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use their body to cooperatively lift and load 50-100 pounds of junk as part of a 2-person crew.
Work Hours
Standard workdays for JUNK SHOT are Monday through Friday, and start time is generally 7:00 am, but is subject to change occasionally depending on the schedule. Employees can expect to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, with hours increasing as the schedule becomes busier. This is a new business, and we are in the growth phase, so hours may vary. Our goal is to have crewmembers working 40+ hours per week as the business continues to expand.
Candidates must be able to provide a level of flexibility to accommodate for schedule changes.
If the schedule is especially busy, you will be required to work overtime hours (rate: time-and-a-half) to finish all jobs for the day, with day shifts occasionally approaching 10 or 11 hours to ensure completion of all work.
Overtime is classified by anything over 40 hours per week.
