Work Days: Monday – Friday | Hours of Operation: 8:00am – 5:00pmWhy Broadway Bank:We are one of the largest independently owned banks in Texas with offerings in personal and private banking, wealth management, business banking and mortgage lending.Position Overview:The Mortgage Loan Originator is pivotal in providing mortgage loan origination services to the bank’s clientele, encompassing both existing customers and prospective ones. This role is responsible for generating mortgage loans through a blend of branch and external marketing initiatives, aiming to build loyalty and enhance customer profitability through outstanding service and expertise in mortgage solutions.Essential Functions:
- Conduct interviews with applicants to gather financial and credit information, analyze customer needs, and recommend suitable financing options.
- Complete loan applications, including the collection of necessary information and documentation.
- Research, recommend, and secure appropriate loan programs and terms.
- Ensure strict compliance with mortgage loan origination regulations and guidelines, including but not limited to Reg B, Reg C, Reg X, Reg Z, Privacy, and CIP regulations.
- Act as the primary contact for customers throughout the mortgage process, establishing and maintaining strong relationships.
- Actively promote mortgage loan programs within the bank’s branch network and participate in community and real estate organizations.
- Develop and execute targeted marketing efforts to enhance customer penetration and loyalty.
- Engage in bank marketing programs, community projects, and real estate financing organizations to enhance visibility and network.
- Register and maintain status as a Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) with the NMLS, adhering to the S.A.F.E. Act requirements.
- Meet and exceed performance measures including new loans funded, customer contacts, and business development activities.
- Collaborate with bank partners to maximize customer value through appropriate referrals and services.
- Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in mortgage loan origination.
- Assume additional responsibilities as required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in meeting the evolving needs of the bank and its customers.
- This position may require travel within the Bank’s geographic area.
Experience & Education:
- Minimum of 3 years in residential lending, real estate, title company, or legal experience.
- Familiarity with mortgage regulatory compliance and prior business development experience preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Undergraduate degree preferred.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Superior customer service skills.
- Proficiency with mortgage loan origination software (e.g., Calyx Point).
- Computer literacy, especially in spreadsheet and word processing software.
- Experience with automated underwriting services (e.g., FNMA Desktop Underwriter) is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to financial responsibility, character, and general fitness standards as per Regulation Z.
Other Requirements:
- Registration and maintenance of registry as a Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and Registry, in compliance with the S.A.F.E. Act.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull weights or otherwise move objects weighing as much as10 lbs. on a regular basis and/or for extended periods of time during the workday.
- Occasional overtime or extended hours may be required.
