Job description: United Heritage Credit Union (UHCU) is looking for a dynamic leader in the Assistant Deposit Operations Manager to oversee the daily workflow of the Deposit Operations staff. The Assistant Depopsit Operations Manager recommends, develops, and implements controls and standards as they relate to deposit and payment operations. This role will collaborate directly with the Deposit Operations and Servicing Manager to identify, develop, and implement process enhancements, while ensuring compliance with all rules and regulations.As the Assistant Deposit Operations Manager with UCHU you’ll get to:

  • Partner with the Deposit Operations and Servicing Manager to provide direction, guidance, training and coaching to staff through individual development plans, mentoring and performance reviews. Recommend necessary personnel actions, such as interviewing, hiring, transferring, promotions, disciplinary actions and terminations.
  • Collaborate with the Deposit Operations and Servicing Manager to ensure staffing remains appropriate for business needs and service-level achievement.
  • Assist the Deposit Operations and Servicing Manager to ensure staff has appropriate resources to complete job functions with effectiveness and efficiency and identify team needs through regular and consistent feedback.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for staff on complex errors and/or issues surrounding departmental functions and escalate to the Deposit Operations and Servicing Manager, as necessary.
  • Identify areas of opportunity within the department and recommend process improvements in order to support a culture of innovation and change.
  • Supervise the completion and accuracy of work completed by staff to ensure service level expectations are met and own quality assurance related to all areas of responsibility.
  • Promote UHCU’s culture, philosophy, values and standards ensuring quality and teamwork.

  • Provide single or dual control approval for wires (both internal and external), as applicable based on established procedures.
  • Provide wire processing support by reviewing postings for accuracy and assisting with due diligence for fraud prevention.
  • Review ACH exceptions for return or manual post to member’s accounts. Provide overrides and/or approvals for staff, as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Deposit Operations and Servicing Manager to maintain Federal Reserve users.
  • Process ACH returns and exceptions, along with Notification of Change (NOC) entries.
  • Supervise check adjustments or balancing issues and assist with complex scenarios related to check clearing.
  • Supervise the garnishment, levy, lien and freeze processes and ensure that staff is compliant with the requirements defined in each particular request.

The Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated financial services experience with past roles showing a progression of increasing responsibilities related to deposit/payment operations, bookkeeping, or accounting.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory/leadership experience with progressive responsibilities related to coaching, mentoring, developing and motivating staff.
  • Demonstrated experience with complex wire transfers, ACH, check clearing, dormant accounts and reconciling/balancing.
  • Proficient understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook with strong technical and computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of demonstrated financial institution experience with past roles showing a progression of increasing responsibilities and supervisory leadership related to branch operations and the implementation, enhancement and support of deposit/payment operations functions.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising fully remote and/or hybrid employees.
  • Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) Certification.
  • Experience with FedLine Advantage, FedLine Command and FedLine Web.
  • Experience using Episys Quest (Symitar).
